Liam: So do you think that he actually told Courtney he wanted a divorce, or did Rosemary Carroll, his attorney tell Courtney that he wanted a divorce?

Hank Harrison: Well lets go back to Courtney's very clever idea of having no one think of her as a Yoko Ono, when in fact, the truth is that's all she was doing the whole time. See Courtney was talking herself a rock star before Kurt. Courtney had told me and my wife, both verbally and in letters that I have, that she was going to marry herself a rock star, and if he died she'd get all the money she'd be happy. So the idea of her finding a rock star, marrying him, and divorcing and/or now we know killing him and getting the money was on her mind when she was 17. And I have evidence for that, I have written and verbal testimony. So when Kurt died I said nuts she did it, whereas everybody else said oh my God what happened? Cause I'm the father and I'm sitting there going nuts she did it. Now I may be the only guy in the country that said nuts she did it. Because I knew ahead of time what she was trying to do. Once you have a junkie daughter who's shooting heroin and running around with rock stars and trying to be a wannabe rock star herself it brings people around who are also groupies who are screwing rock stars, who are really lesbians underneath it all. L7 and Kat Bjelland and all those people were in my attic in my house. In case you don't know I have recordings of L7, Babes in Toyland, and Sugar Baby Babylon and all those groups. It's stuff they left behind. We had a big house and then we got sick of it, not because of the music so much, although the neighbors didn't like it that. It was the candles and the lace curtains and the Madonna routine and bringing boyfriends in, tricking them and charging money for sex at our house. And doing heroin at the house. It was getting to be too much of a circus, we had to kick them out. So they got all pissed off and robbed us three or four times. Then she came back and begged herself back in so I let her back in and she tried to burn the house down. And the final time she was there she said that she wanted to kill me and that she had already tried to give me AIDS. She had somebody who had AIDS brush his teeth with my toothbrush and then put it back in my cabinet, and all this nuts trying to kill me, blah blah. I didn't believe any of it until after Kurt died and I went back over all the messages and all the records and tapes and I realized that she was really out of control. I thought she was sort of out of control, and I didn't realize how really really crazy she was. The thing that really filled it in for me, believe it or not, was the book called Courtney Love: Queen of Noise by Melissa Rossi. I made good friends with her and apparently Melissa knew Courtney from Portland. Melissa was waiting on tables at a club when Courtney was crashing into these clubs and Courtney had made quite a name for herself as the bomb water girl and the graffiti kid. Her book was suppressed too for a while. Courtney paid the promo people over a million dollars a year for over 3 years running. She made sure that the book was shot down. In addition to that Geffen was in on that. Geffen's PR people were in on that. The same people that were doing Geffen's PR for other bands were working for Courtney. The money came from Geffen for the PR because Geffen wanted the book shot down more than anybody. In addition to that there's a third group, Carroll, Cottaco, Nelson, and whoever, the law firm. Rosemary's Carrol's law firm wanted the book shot down because they were afraid of losing their partnership for the conflict of interest they had already gotten into. So there was more than Courtney shooting down all these books. Everybody thinks that she was spending Kurt's money to put all this PR down, that is partially true. But what people don't realize is that there are a whole bunch of other people spending a whole bunch of money to shoot down the book.

Courtney Love's father, Hank Harrison, discusses his rocker daughter
April 16, 2004

Court TV Host: Talk live online to Courtney Love's estranged father, Hank Harrison. Love is facing a trial on felony drug charges in Beverly Hills, California, where she is scheduled to be arraigned on April 30th. Hank Harrison was just on Catherine Crier Live, and he's going to be chatting with us here.

Court TV Host: Welcome, Mr. Harrison, thank you for being our guest today.

Hank Harrison: Thank you.

Court TV Host: Anything you didn't get a chance to say on air that you'd like to begin with before we take questions?

Hank Harrison: Okay. I came prepared today to discuss the death of Robert Pastorelli on April 8th. Pastorelli died in his home from an overdose of morphine and vomited all over himself. He then was found with the needle still hanging from his arm. This is the typical way junkies die. It is considered an overdose or suicide. In this case it was ruled an accident by the Los Angeles Medical Examiner Clyde Reeves. I have the report right here, and it's available on The Smokinggun.com Pastorelli died typically, quickly, with the amount of heroin he had in his system. He had been addicted for several weeks prior to his death. The rebuttal that junkies build up a tolerance is only true to a certain extent. No one, not even an army mule, which was the analogy given earlier on the Crier show, can sustain the amount of heroin that was found in Kurt Cobain's body. However, the Pastorelli situation was typical due to the bodily fluids being rejected, whereas in the Cobain case the body was laid down and cleaned up, the needle was put back in the box, the tie-up was neatly rolled up in the cigar box, and the kind of heroin that was found in the syringe at the Cobain crime scene was black tar heroin which my experience tells me was not powerful enough in it of itself to create that much morphine toxicity. So anyone, regardless of what your agenda is, will see by comparing the Pastorelli case with Cobain's could see that something's wrong, because the vomit and other bodily fluids were nowhere to be found. Therefore, the conclusion is: somebody cleaned up the crime scene! Somebody cleaned up the body before it was laid to rest in that position. Here's the next part: if the crime scene had simply been scrubbed up, which is often the case when family interfere with crime scenes before the police get there, we wouldn't have much to talk about. But then the suicide theorists want us to believe that Kurt stood up, took a shotgun in his mouth and pulled a trigger after which he wiped off the fingerprints. These few things that I've mentioned are only two or three of the amazing contradictions that one finds in this case. And I haven't even mentioned murder yet or motive. Now I'll take questions.

Question from Shell: People say that Robert may have murdered his girlfriend years ago. Do you believe there is any truth to that?

Hank Harrison: I have no idea. I'm merely using the current forensics to establish a point. It merits investigation because she died in '99. Six years is a long time to carry a torch which would wind up in suicide. However I was only using the Pastorelli case as an example of the forensic dissimilarities.

Question from isis: When you said that Courtney was a fraud and manipulated the media, what did you mean?

Hank Harrison: How could you be more clear than that? (Laughs.) I mean the media all and all is pretty stupid, and the public is pretty gullible. If NBC can have big shows like Apprentice and have it be #1, I don't know what's left of TV. Courtney has spent millions of dollars of Kurt's money especially buying television, radio, and print media. No one ever seems to wonder how someone who's never had a hit record managed to get that much ink. The answer is she pays for it. She hires publicists with every extra dollar to guarantee her appearances on Letterman or Leno. To get on Jay Leno she went up to his door with a black cat -- she knew Leno was fond of cats. She walked up to his house, rang the bell and asked if he wanted to adopt another cat. That's how Courtney and Jay met. But Jay doesn't know that she's being pulling that same scam for 25 years! Sometimes it's a puppy, it's a kitten or just herself looking bedraggled. She gets people to take her in that way emotionally. One has to be very firm with people like Courtney; alcoholics and junkies are very manipulative. Add to that the fact that Cournety's mother is a 150 IQ and I have a 131 IQ and a photographic memory. Courtney has both You can imagine what she's capable of. She IS a rocket scientist -- if she wanted to be.

Question from Pammy: Sir, how long have you and your daughter been estranged?

Hank Harrison: I never thought I was estranged from Courtney. Courtney tells people that in the media. The answer is probably since the baby was born. She told me in 1993 the year before Kurt died that I could go up to Seattle to see the baby and meet Kurt. She did not tell me that the week before our meeting she had solicited his murder/assassination to a guy named Eldon Hoke a.k.a. Il Duce and of the Mentors rock punk band. Il Duce was hit by a train two years later, but only after passing several lie detector tests. I was fortunate enough to speak to Il Duce in person and on the telephone. Once in Chicago I bought him dinner and drinks in '97 when he was doing the Jerry Springer show. At that time he looked me in the eye and said he did it. He's disreputable, but I believed him. My heart sank again. Add to that the kind of "father bashing" she spent so much money on -- hatchet jobs, attacks on my career and wife and so forth causes me to wonder why she would protest so much unless I hit a vital nerve.

Question from JohnMark: How was your relationship with your daughter before you wrote your book and how is it now, after the book is out?

Hank Harrison: My book is not out yet. That is a misunderstanding. The book to which you are referring is probably the book by Halperin and Wallace That book came out in '98 or '99 as "Who Killed Kurt Cobain?" and has been rehashed now under "Love Kills." And I cooperated with the original book but not the second book because in the meantime I had a falling out with Halperin. My book is looking for a publisher now. It is finished. It is 700 pages thick, and I assure that I am a professional writer. Almost nothing in my book overlaps anything in the Love Kills book. But Courtney has spent an unimaginable amount of money attempting to suppress my book and career. She doesn't want my book to come out. She can handle Halperin and Wallace--they haven't got a clue. They just suspect -- they have plausible suspicions. But I have exact knowledge of places, date, and times, and I have letters both from Courtney as well as Kurt's family, even President Clinton in my book.

Question from Caren: Why do you seem so willing to "hang out" with Courtney, as you stated? What do you hope to accomplish by doing that? And why would you want to "hang out" with a so-called murderer?

Hank Harrison: Very good. Here it is: First, I had a heart attack in January, followed by a mini stroke. I want to see my granddaughter before I kick the f--king bucket. Hasn't anyone gotten that yet? I am 63! People who ask that question are almost always not parents.

Question from Shell: Have you given up hope that your daughter can pull her life together, if not for herself, then at least for her child?

Hank Harrison: Absolutely not. She's full of hope and so am I. She's got more guts than anybody you'll ever meet. And I do love her -- I want people to know that. She 's a lot like me. If I hadn't gone to therapy I'd be just like her. She's me without therapy. I wish she would go and get some with all that money she's got.

Question from annarocket: Why doesn't Courtney want to have a relationship with you?

Hank Harrison: Because I'm an a-hole. (Laughs.) Because she knows I know all of her tricks. You can't function in a world where everyone knows your tricks. I taught her all of those tricks. I didn't manage the Grateful Dead for seven years and not learn something.

Question from Sckare: What's the strongest piece of evidence you have against Courtney about Kurt ?

Hank Harrison: The forensics are very strong that Kurt was murdered. But much weaker when it comes to pointing the finger directly at Courtney Love. Courtney used this guy Tom Grant as a patsy to establish an alibi on Easter Sunday 1994. Kurt was probably in a coma at that time she was in LA. I cannot prove that Courtney killed Kurt. However, it's pretty obvious that somebody did. There's another forensic element that needs to be discussed. When Kurt's body was found there were two fresh needle marks on his left arm opposite the elbow. Kurt was left handed. No one who ever used drugs with him ever saw him inject drugs into his left arm. Therefore, I pretty much conclude that whoever did the actual injection was either very stupid or did not know that Cobain was left-handed. Again that doesn't answer the earlier question. There was one thing that is ominous and difficult to rationalize: no one involved in the case was ever able to trace Courtney to an airplane flight on Easter or the Monday after Easter. Although Kurt was easily traced via his credit card and his United Airlines computer documentation. However, two flights were recorded from LAX to Boeing field in Seattle during that time frame. Both were private jets. Add to this the fact that it is well known that she bragged about it a lot -- that Courtney always had a private jet at her disposal as part of the "Geffen arrangement". But again, that has to do with the cover-up after the fact. The people who helped her cover up what happened were frightened for their own mistakes, they did not have anything to do with killing Kurt but they had a lot do with covering it up after the fact. In order to prove that those jets were used one would have to prove they were Geffen corporate. In order to prove that Rosemary Carol the attorney was engaged in a conflict of interest situation, you would have to subpoena Collico records to see what Rosemary had written in any reports. Although one wonders why Kurt and Courtney had the same lawyer.

Question from Inc: What kind of little girl was Courtney?

Hank Harrison: All that stuff is in my book. Wonderful, brilliant beautiful child. All areas. Easy to get along with. Never caused any trouble until she was seven or eight, and then they took her away from me. An interesting point to be brought up here, and I hope it is not too self-serving, but in 1971 I was in a Zen monastery when I got the subpoena to come to court to defend myself as to why I should not allow adoption of my daughter to Frank Rodriguez because the assumption was because I was in a Zen monastery, and they were Catholics and that I had very little money. It looked like I abandoned her. At that time, 1971, Mr. Rodriguez was asked the following question by the court: "Are you now and forever more capable of providing a healthy and secure environment for said child?" Answer under oath: "Yes." Fact: Rodriguez and Rodriguez were separated and filing for a divorce when that statement was made. Thus, he perjured himself. Mysteriously, all of those documents were lost in the basement of San Francisco, and I could never find them. Here's the kicker: 1997 rolls around and my attorney of record on that case, one Dennis B. Natali, was shot dead on the street by a gang of Vietnamese thugs to silence him from testifying in a federal case. When that happened a few months later his widow allowed some of his clients to go into his office and get documentations pertinent to their cases. Lo and behold, there was the entire adoption case sitting in a cardboard box in his office. Now I have all the documentation I need. Because I was denied due process to reopen that case, and prove that Rodriguez perjured himself. Guess who has my granddaughter right now? Frank Rodriguez, the second husband, even though Linda Carol, my wife, Courtney's mother, married three other guys after Frank, Frank is still messing with my life! That's how far back this bad karma goes. Frank was the one who put Courtney in a mental hospital and several foster homes and juvenile halls. Even though my own sister wanted her to come and live with in San Francisco, and my sister is a social worker.

Court TV Host: You mentioned that documents related to the initial case were lost -- how did your dead lawyer, Natali, how did he end up with the documents?

Hank Harrison: They were answers and depositions to his filings, counter filings and counter suits because I fought hard. At the time it didn't look good with me being the manager of a rock band like the Grateful Dead.

Question from Pammy: Sir, what is your hope of the outcome of all this? a new investigation?

Question from Shell: Aren't you concerned that your discussions might prompt a new investigation in which Courtney could be indicted for murder?

Hank Harrison: Okay, the answer is simple, there will never under any circumstances be a new investigation in Seattle. And I don't know enough about the law to speculate on a federal involvement being the fact that they crossed state lines during the commission of the crime. But I can reiterate: the state of Washington, the city of Seattle will never reopen the case. They did not like Kurt or the grunge movement. Kurt said things to offend the local gentry and constabulary, such as: "Happiness is a rock in a cop's face." And that's just one of them. Seattle has nothing to gain by opening the case because it's going to make them look bad. And it may end up with lawsuits because several people killed themselves under the assumption that it was a suicide.

Question from Caren: Out of curiosity, if you did not raise her & have barely known her personally for many years, how do you feel you can comment on anything she does?

Question from Caren: How do you know what she does for the past 25 years, when you have not been directly involved with Courtney? Do you think maybe you are obsessed with your daughter's fame and using that to get your name out there?

Hank Harrison: (Laughs.) First, those are good questions. I'm already famous -- I've been famous since I was 17. I have several inventions, patents and copyrights, and I've been in Who's Who in the World and America since '92. I was organically in Who's Who in the West in the early '70s My original book on the Grateful Dead was a bestseller. That said, I have been tracking down the secrets of the Holy Grail for the last 20 years or more. And have come to some very, very profound conclusion including a great deal of study in the libraries of Europe. Courtney is my only child. I raised her until she was seven. Lost track of her for nine years, found her again in juvenile hall in Salem, Oregon, got her out, demonstrated to her while she was still a minor that she had over a million dollars in trust which her mother was keeping from her. Second, her mother told her I was dead. Third, they tried to change her brain and personality around to forget me by giving her over to a mind control doctor named Dr Pharr in Portland to try to re-parent her which was one of the names they used in that new age era. I was not around at the time. However, since 1979 I've been in touch with everything she's done every day of her life as much as I can in any circumstances. She lived with me in Ireland, and in Sausalito, San Francisco. She moved with me several times until I moved to Europe and came back in '82. She lived with us again and practiced Sugar Babylon and her other bands in my basement. I knew all of her friends and most of her boyfriends growing up. So don't say I "don't know anything about her." I taught her to write poetry and I taught her to read until she surpassed me and was on her own. I taught her to use the library.

Question from Inc: Do you love your daughter?

Question from DetroitRockCity: Do you still love Courtney?

Hank Harrison: Yes, very much. However strange that may seem. I'm also very proud of her. For stuff that she's done that one can be proud of.

Question from nolo: What would you say to Courtney if she called you on the phone right now?

Question from Inc: What would you like to say to Courtney today if she is watching the chat?

Hank Harrison: First of all, my granddaughter is a known equestrian and well trained horseback rider. My wife is an Olympic trainer. It would make sense to get those two together. Courtney is welcome at my house anytime, as long as she manages to show the same respect as she would at anybody's home. I think sometimes my wife would go completely nuts if she showed up, because my wife knows her very well, having met her in Ireland, and Liverpool and elsewhere over the years.

Court TV Host: Any closing thoughts?

Hank Harrison: My book needs to come out to answer all these questions. I am a publisher, but publishing it myself would make it look like a vanity press. Dozens of other people have exploited the Cobain situation -- I will probably make no profit from the publication of my book and will give all my proceeds to suicide prevention and homeless charities.
