That's rubbish! Siouxsie Sioux, Lydia Lunch, Patti Smith are alternative and women and weren't offered breast implants by their record companies. Patti Smith doesn't even wear a dress! If a woman like Madonna or Courtney Love chooses to expose their breasts or sell their career on sex then that's their choice. To complain about it later on is absurd! Plenty of female singers have chosen not to market themselves on sex appeal. I'll ask my female musician friends and they'll tell me that the choice is theirs.

Fair enough. It is at some level a womans choice to do that. But even whether you choose to do that they are still marginalised by patriachy in the music business and indeed the entertianment industry as a whole.
However, ask yourself whether most female musicians are considered greats compared to the many men who are? It's harder for women and many subvert their philisophy in order to attain some sort of air play. Courtney Love on many levels subverted her own philisophy to the extent where you question whether or not it existed in the first place or whether it was just on loan form Kat Bjelland and Kim Gordon.

But the media is predominatley produced by men and their desires for women are met. Look at any magazine and it will be staring at you blankly, lacking any mental compacity to declare a revolution. That's why so many female performers who don't conform to these theories regarding the perfect female are slandered in the press like- you guessed it- Courtney Love, Kat Bjelland so on and so forth.

You also need to remember that Courtney Love and her comparatives in the Olympian scene were fanatically anti corporate in the early days. Riot grrl was about being bad and loud. Inhabiting the exact opposite to this stale,worn out view of females. Courtney like her comparatives has continued to act in that fashion. That riot grrl code never really wore off regardless of the angry exchange of words which would follow in the future regarding her husband Kurt Cobain.

Go Thurstan and Kim. They are the one of the backbones of music. I haven't heard any of Thurstan's solo stuff but God I want to. Have you heard Ciccone Youth and Free Kitten? LOVE IT. My man thinks it was wrong to cover addicted to love, I mean it is a Robert Palmer song but I thought it was funny. Glad to see someone understands irony and sarcasm still and has good taste in music. I'm sorry but even the most die anti Courtney needs to acknowledge that Neil Young is better than the chilli peppers.

I don't know what you're talking about. I never posted your posts on an pro Courtney. All I said is that the people on this board are malicious and so on and so forth. If you want to go to Kitty radio and look at all my posts to see if I put yours up go for it. I didn't. There is no other pro Courtney board I post on where this site has been a discussion.

The chillis are slightly over rated wank though. Saw 'em about 4 years back, played for near 3 hours. Pretty good but is there really a need for three encores? Thats just taking the egotistical piss.
