<sigh> First of all, we don't talk about it "24/7." We have lives. We work, raise families, travel, whatever and at the end of a long day, it's nice to come here and talk to people who are in accord with you. Yes we talk about Courtney; her latest court cases (and there have been sooo many) her latest escapades, whose suing her now, and the murder theory which is something that peaks the interest of many of us, not because we're "Kurt worshippers" but because we want to know how a man, obviously murdered, could be dismissed so off-handedly without a proper investigation while the main suspect squanders his hard-earned cash and winds up on the front page of the tabloids for making an ass of herself, among other things. Do I suspect Courtney? Hell yes! Would I accuse her? No. I have nothing but suspicions right now but I am 100% in agreement that the case should be reopened and NOW. If I were to "meet her on the street" as you say, I would neither kiss her ass or accuse her; I would walk on by as she is not a person I wish to know. If she were to accost me, I would defend myself. Period. Maybe she's a "tough rock chick" who knows how to kick ass but I've been in a few scrapes myself and know how to fight back if necessary. Then I would press charges and she would be in jail. Period. Her days of random violence are over, OR ELSE JAIL. So I seriously doubt she would waste her time or mine in a silly school-girl scrap. On this site yes, Courtney is the main subject though we do talk about other things as well. We're interested in what happened to Kurt. We want to know, so we debate, discuss, theorize, etc. So what? Why does that annoy you so much? If it angers you, why bother coming here? Your childish insults of "she'd kick your ass" and such are water off a ducks back and pretty much dismissed with a shrug and a "Courtney-worshipper" label. We have a right to be here. Freedom of speech. I would never visit KR and say "You people are obsessed with loving Courtney. Get a life!" yet it never ceases to amaze me how KRer's come here and berate us for doing what they are doing which is talk about Courtney. If your a fan, fine, be a fan. But this is anti-Courtney and it is not the appropriate place for you to be posting.

Kate Bush. Ah, she's amazing! What a range. Also don't forget Stevie Nicks. She's true talent. Edie Brickell was a one-hit wonder but what a great hit she had. The Wilson sisters from "Heart" kicked some serious ass too. "Magic Man" was an amazing tune. Anita Baker isn't a "rock chick" but I love her stuff; what an amazing voice. Billie Holiday, Aretha Franklin (the goddess of soul and an incredibly nice lady), Gladys Knight, Sade....alot of genuinely talented ladies. While Hole was a pretty decent band, Courtney could never compete with these women. They have style, grace, range and training. Courtney's musical training has been pretty limited and she often relies on her band to help keep her up. These women stand alone. The one time Courtney tried to stand alone with "America's Sweetheart" she fell on her face. Without talent to back her up, she's got nothing. Her lyrics are brilliant but that makes her a poet, not a musician. I'm done. Good to see you PWC! Have your people call my people and we'll do lunch.  ;D |

To call Courtney "portly" after all she's been through is the epitome of cruelty and unfairness. Courtney's past behavior aside, she is finally taking care of herself and IMHO looks fine, beautiful in fact because she's clean and sober. So she's gained some weight, does that automatically mean she's no longer beautiful? The damage the press does, not only to the celebrities but young girls in general, is astonishing as body image is perceived as being "thin is beautiful, weight is bad." Girls, seeing this image projected, begin to feel because they don't look like the model in the picture, must be ugly and then start doing all kinds of self-destructive things in the name of "beauty" never realizing they are accomplishing the exact opposite. The media bears much responsibility for this because they refuse to see that beauty has many forms, not just one, and ALL women are beautiful despite their shapes, sizes, etc. What they did to Kirstie Alley enraged me because I've always found Kirstie to be beautiful and talented whether she's big or small and my hat's off to her for her sense of humor and intelligence in taking the weight issue and using it to her advantage when she taped "Fat Actress." Oprah is another example; she's been big, small, medium yet she remains a beautiful woman no matter what her weight is, and she's a good soul and a beautiful person, which is more important. The media, in it's infinite wisdom, is making this very difficult for Courtney and are all but pushing her back into drug use because she gained a few pounds and THIS IS WRONG!!! Beauty has no specific guidelines and doesn't fall into just one catagory and the media is ignoring this because "Hey, it sells!" and that's just wrong. They've done a lot of damage to a lot of people in the past, mostly young women with poor body images, and have neglected to point out the positive. Frankly, though I'm no fan of hers, I think Courtney looks wonderful. She's healthy, clear-eyed, articulate and the weight on her was needed badly because she was indeed too thin while she was using. But the media won't see that; they'd rather flame her by calling her "portly" or "pudgie" and ignoring what she accomplished, which I think is wonderful. She cleaned up and is taking life "one day at a time" and I think she deserves an enormous amount of credit for this, not to be flamed because of a few lousy pounds. I hate the media for this and wish there was a way to make them accountable for the damage they've done to many, many women in the past. That being said, I'm not posting here again. I just felt that this needed to be said because I'm sick and tired of the "image" portrayed in order to look beautiful in the public eye. All I can say is, a few years down the road Britney Spears, Christine Agulara and others better watch out because once their bodies start to age and weight starts to come on the media is going to crucify them and that's wrong. Leave the weight issue alone! There is much about Courtney that can be reported but the weight issue SHOULD NOT BE ONE OF THEM!! I am writing in regards to your recent photo of Courtney Love with the caption "Portly Love."
I'm no fan of Miss Love's. In fact, I find her downright offensive. Her conduct and recent court cases have disgusted me beyond belief and her propensity for violence extremely disturbing. But what I find even more offensive and disturbing, not to mention disgust and the pettiness of it all, is that cheap shot at her weight and her "doubled in size" label.
Courtney's hell is her own creation, that's a given, but her new-found sobriety is very admirable. Speaking as one whose been "rehabbed" I know the hell she went through with the physical withdrawal and I know the hell she is going through psychologically as she slowly tries to put the pieces of her life back together, one day at a time. It's also a fact that when a body is detoxing, especially from a narcotic, weight gain is going to be a factor. Dealing with the changes in the body while trying to adjust to sobriety is the biggest hell of all, because the temptation is there to go back to "using" if for no other reason, to be thin again. It takes time for the body to adjust and even more time for the mind to adjust and for every moment she's been off drugs, she should be applauded. Instead, she is belittled for gaining weight; now that she no longer fits the "Hollywood Mold" of beauty and she is immediately branded as "portly" and ridiculed for her new appearance when her sobriety is much more important.
Furthermore, let me add that for all her faults, Courtney looks wonderful; she's healthy and sober and those "pounds" she's being criticized for were badly needed, given her almost anorexic look she had this past spring and summer. Her weight gain has been healthy and the sickliness that plagued her during her thinner phase is completely gone. She looks radiant with health and that a positive thing, given all that she's been through.
It angers me when the media takes it upon themselves to decide what's beautiful and what's not and blatantly disregard the fact that people come in all shapes and sizes and beauty exists in all forms, not just the ones you pick out. When pictures of pencil thin models splash the cover of magazines and were blasted with pictures of the "10 Most Beautiful People" of the year, I cringe thinking about how "ordinary" I am compared to these perfect creatures and when I think of the damage that's being done to hundreds of young people, both men and women, because they feel they don't "measure up" I get scared. I have two beautiful young daughters and the thought of them growing up with this kind of expectation scares me to no end. It's a terrible pressure to put on people and frequently it leads to self-destructive behavior in the name of "beauty" and their perception of themselves becomes so off-balance they don't realize what they are accomplishing is the opposite.
When women like Kirstie Alley get splashed all over the tabloids because she gained weight I get sick with rage and disgust. Never mind the fact that Kirstie Alley is a wonderfully talented, funny, delightful woman and extremely beautiful no matter how much she weighs; instead the tabloids latch on to the fact that she gained weight and attack like a pack of piranhas. It's disgusting what people will do just to make a buck, even if it's a cheap shot.
I really hope you consider what I'm saying very carefully. Believe me, I'm sure you'll have plenty of things to report on with Courtney Love, but leave the weight issue alone. It's cheap, vicious and extremely cruel.

Yeah, so? I never stated in any of those posts that I was a fan. What made me mad was the weight thing. If you'd read the posts carefully, which I doubt, you'd see that the issue I had was the media going after Courtney for her weight gain, which was unfair, not only to Courtney but to other celebrities who age and put on weight. Furthermore, I let it be known in this forum what I did. Fact is, nobody really cares. In fact, a few posters on this site agree with me; the weight gain shouldn't be the issue. Furthermore, I've never said Courtney is "ugly." I think she's quite pretty, in fact and have said so. But that doesn't mean I don't have my doubts about her. As for the post "Under The Wishka Bridge" a close friend of mine asked me to post it for her because registration was locked and she knew I had an account. Juliet and I have been friends since college and she is a HUGE Kurt & Courtney fan and we strongly disagree on the murder theory but we're very tight; she even babysits my girls when she visits. So what's your point? I also stated in the post that Juliet asked me to do it. It was also posted on a few other Nirvana sites--so what? What are you trying to prove? Your picking at nits and all your doing is scratching yourself.  |

The difference is, I don't post there to insult Courtney or call the other posters names. I've posted on a few occassions when I had something that needed to be said. You post here to call names and make trouble. I LURK on KR because I'm studying Courtney. I'm interested in this woman who has caused much controversy. I see her through the eyes of her fans and people who are indifferent and those who dislike her. I'm curious about what the hell happened to Kurt and I'm trying to figure out if Courtney had anything to do with it. You only post here to spout about what a fan you are and what losers we are. Your not proving anything except how immature you are.
