Her's a website I have that deals with fake bootlegs. Although the Live through this demo isn't there you can see how easy a mistake can be made. Look at the one where you can tell it's a fake because the drums sound like they've been directly stolen from Sifting from Bleach. Have a think about that. Because I haven't heard this demo and you haven't given any information on it I suggest that if it actually exists it most likely fake. www.livenirvana.com/fakes/bootlegger.php

Further, I offer this up. Was it Nirvana or Hole as a band playing on that demo? Most likely Hole. Have you heard it? I don't think you have.Well, here's Hole song Kurt sang on and one that's fake. What a surprise. HOW DO WE KNOW THIS IS FAKE?: Although the fraudulent qualities of this song are not as disgustingly obvious as with some of the other fakes, it is not difficult to dismiss this recording as the fake that it is. This is made a lot easier by the fact that we have a genuine fragment of a NIRVANA rendition of this song. As previously noted Cobain's trademark guitar style sheds light on this as being a fake. The timing and rhythm was far off that the real version. The person who performed these songs didn't even attempt to match tunings with those used by NIRVANA. The lyrics are different from any known version of this song (the NIRVANA rehearsal tape version, or the versions Courtney Love performed). But as Frank Morris pointed out the most obvious sign of this being a fake is the fact that this guy doesn't sound like Cobain! Cobain always sang with very little high end definition in his voice, and the vocalist in this song had too much of a treble overtone. Frank did hear rumors that the person who fabricated this came forward and admitted to doing so, saying it was meant to be a cover, but that people decided to pass it off as real. The final nail in the coffin for this track is that it has been confirmed fake by Mike Ziegler and Kris Sproul, who both claim to have run across this song on several occasions. And another Hole song Courtney allowed Kurt to sing on. Wow! KROQ also put up a story about the 'Asking for it' Hole track; "Courtney Love is offering 52 free MP3 music files on Hole's official website. Among the tracks available for downloading is a version of 'Asking for It,' featuring vocals by her late husband and Nirvana frontman, Kurt Cobain. Cobain reportedly laid down a backup vocal track to the song while Hole was recording demos for 'Live Through This.' A source close to the band claims Love recently decided to mix the track and offer it for free to fans. Other tunes now available on www.holemusic.com include rare and live Hole songs, a version of Guns N' Roses' 'Paradise City' recorded during the band's performance at Hollywood's Viper Room in January 1999, and a cover of Led Zeppelin's 'Whole Lotta Love.' Since late last year, Love has promised that the web would be the future home for Hole's music. The band is still trying to free itself from its recording contract with Geffen Records and aim to release the next Hole album on the Internet." Courtesy of KROQ and Nitin.

I listened to the bootleg page you posted and yeah, it was terrible. Definately not Kurt. However, how do we know that the demo of Kurt singing Courtney's song is the same one Dave Grohl has? The tape in his possession could be very different from the crap on this page. In order for me to make a judgement I would need to listen to the tapes. When Jim was in his band I remember he and his bandmates hanging at "Al's house" jamming and playing and they did tape themselves so they could listen afterward and laugh at how bad they sounded. Kurt, Dave and Krist could very well have done the same thing. However, Jim and his buddies only played the songs they were intending to sing; Al was the songwriter of the group and while they were laughing and having a good time they would focus only on the songs they intended to play at their next gig. Kurt could have had this in mind too; think about it for a second; there are new songs freshly written that they are planning to put into a fourth album and they are hanging out (prolly getting high like Jim and his buds ) and playing and taping themselves to get an idea where they are going with this song, how to set it up, how to break it down note-by-note and rebuild it into something worth listening to, but having a good time of it because right now there's no hurry. Another scenerio is that Kurt, after looking at Courtney's work, insisted on working on it for her and asked his band mates to help. It's possible. But what needs figuring out is, Dave and Krist made no effort to hide their dislike of Courtney; why would they do her a favor and work on her songs for her, let alone record them? If they liked and respected Kurt enough, maybe they'd do it, but I know if I disliked someone and was asked to help them I wouldn't put much effort into it, even if I was doing a favor for a friend. Something about this just doesn't make sense. I'm going to reserve judgment until I hear Dave's tapes and watch and see if Courtney sues Dave for slander. If Courtney sues, she has nothing to hide. If she doesn't, then there are a number of questions that she needs to answer. Cool debating, Danielle. I'm kind of liking this. ;D

If it was Hole preforming then why did Courtney freak out and settle the lawsuit between her and the remaining members of Nirvana in their favor? If it was Hole preforming those songs then she could continue the lawsuit until she won but instead she got scared of being exposed. Denial is a bad thing Danielle. Your love for Kurt is making it hard for you to realize that just because Kurt loved Courtney at one point it doens't make her a good person.

AcidFairy snarls:That's hardly the basis for a good rebuttal. There's evidence on this thread both pro and con; state your reasons why you think Courtney wrote LTT; it would certainly make for a more intelligent thread.

No offense I think there are alot more talented bands(musicians) than NIRVANA(kurt etc.). I know my s/n is heartshapped box and i have the smiley from the band, but it symbolizes something else. I think bands such as Velvet Revolver, the Beatles, Guns n' Roses, Blacksabbath are better musician wise by far. Kurt can write, but some of the music really sucks. The 'Come As you Are' music was stolen from another band, and when the band tried to sue they lost. I think Kurt is over rated. I also think NIRVANA is over rated. However they still are a good band. By the way the reason my S/n is Heartshappedboxx is b/c the song is about CL getting back together(and then he got killed), meaning CL sux she is a murderer. The smiley face means DEAD(NIRVANA is dead, kurt is dead CL wins). BUT NOT FOR LONG shes all ready starting to get what's coming to her.

How can you say that Guns and Roses and Velvet revolver are better than NIRVANA? They are pompous bastards that delight in their own arrogance. While Kurt wrote beautiful music, stood by his politics and was an amazing visual artist. Axle sorry axle he doesn't deserve the capitals is a nuts who writes completely derivitive music that completely sucks.

Thee guitar is awful. It's thingy rock. Where's the artist merit. There is none it's all gone. Bands like that destroy good music. Why do people buy crap above something that means something special?
