One sign that Courtney Love is getting her life back together: She's just won back custody of her 12-year-old daughter, Frances Bean Cobain.
On Monday, a Los Angeles juvenile court judge ordered reunification of the mother and daughter, the

only child from the singer's marriage to late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain. The judgment comes after a 15-month legal battle that started a week after Love's overdose and subsequent arrest on drug charges in October 2003, because Frances had been present during the OD (see "Courtney Love Fighting For Custody Of Daughter Frances Bean").
Officials from the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services tried to interview Love about the situation, only to be turned away. On October 10, 2003, the department went to Frances' school and placed her in the care of her grandmother, Cobain's mother, Wendy O'Connor. This move, however, caused strife between the two women, who fought outside a Los Angeles courtroom (see "Courtney Love Trades Blows With Kurt Cobain's Mom, Admits To OxyContin OD"). Love was ordered to move out of her home so that Frances could live there with her nanny and be supervised by Love's stepfather, Frank Rodriguez, and an aunt; Love was granted supervised visitation.
Since then, Love has said she was cleaning up for the sake of her child, and has defended her parenting skills on Howard Stern's radio show and on "The View" (see "Courtney: Being A Rock-Star Single Mom Makes Me A Target" and "Courtney Love Unloads — Coherently! — On 'The View' "). Love told the hosts of the ABC daytime program that "my kid is my first priority." Likewise, she told Stern, "I'm a good mother. I've done a good job."
Frances, who was born in August 1992, was previously taken away from Love shortly after a Vanity Fair article was published in which the singer admitted to using drugs during her pregnancy. The child was returned to Love and Cobain several months later.

ILATO, Did you read the other link? Courtney: Being A Rock-Star Single Mom Makes Me A Target MTV - 02.13.2004 Love said she was being targeted because she's a "controversial rock star" and "the only female rock star who's a single mother." Quivers and Stern countered that Madonna was a single mother when she first raised Lourdes and that Yoko Ono had raised Sean Lennon alone as well. "Hardly," Love argued. "Madonna had Carlos [Leon]. So I guess I'm going to quit being a rock star. What do you want from me? An apron and an apple pie? I stayed home for five years. I haven't done heroin since 1996. I'm a good mother. I've done a good job." This was last year. How crazy and deluded is she? - 'the only female rock star who's a single mother'. my a$$! Patti Smith raised her two children single-handedly after the death of her husband, and I'm sure that there are plenty of others too... It's sad and pathetic that in Courtney Love's world she's the only one who exists. Her poor deluded ego is bigger than the state of Alaska! I won't go into the Heroin because we all know that it was only recently that she's managed to kick coke, xanax, oxycontin, and God and her physicians only know what else! I'm in total agreement with you. Poor, poor Frances. No wonder the kid wants to start a new life in England, what Courtney probably doesn't know is that it is without her. Poor Frances!

Delusional suits her very well. When she went to court for tha overdose (or it might have been the assault but anyway that doesn matter) she stomped her foot and said, "I WASN'T EVEN SHOP LIFTING!!".Ends up shop lifting was how she was first arrested.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens. Either Courtney is going to give up the drugs once and for all and get her life back together or she's going to wait out her 18 month rehabilitation period, go back to her old ways, and lose her daughter for good this time. She has alot riding on this. Also, just because Frances was returned to Courtney doesn't mean the dept. of children's welfare isn't going to be out of her life. She's screwed up twice now in a 12 year period of time. If she does it again, they will swarm all over her and take that child away so fast she won't know what hit her. She is going to have to tread very carefully.
The saga continues. I'm seriously considering writing a soap opera about this. I could make millions. ;D
